Malibu liqueur

Malibu liqueur...

Malibu rum liqueur with the addition of natural coconut extract is made on the Caribbean island of Barbados. By the way, this area is still considered environmentally friendly, and thanks to the island origin of this drink, an original and easily recognizable logo flaunts on an opaque white bottle, presented in the form of 2 palm trees against the background of the rising sun.

Due to the fact that light rum acts as the basis for Malibu, the liquor strength reaches 21 percent. The production of high-quality rum has been established on the island of Barbados for more than three and a half centuries - it was here that in 1893 the technology of making a light type of rum, which is the basis of Malibu liquor, was tested.

Meanwhile, the rum drink itself is relatively recent - in the year 80 of the 20th century. There is an opinion that one of the barrels with traditional Caribbean rum, which stood under the palm tree, accidentally got a coconut. After lying there for a while, the rum took on an unusual taste. Noticing this, the producers of strong alcohol began to experiment with options for mixing rum and coconut extract, as a result of which the modern recipe for Malibu liquor was born.

In a nutshell, the composition of this drink is as follows: light Barbadian rum, spring water, high-quality sugar syrup and a supplement of natural fruit extracts or a natural flavor coconut additive.

It is noteworthy that initially only one type of Malibu liqueur stood out - coconut, however, over time, some more flavoring varieties were added to the traditional original drink. So, today the following types of Malibu liqueur are on sale: mango, with an extract of passion fruit, pineapple or banana.

In addition to its use in its pure form, Malibu liquor quite often acts as a component of numerous cocktails, which can be either simple or two-component or multi-component. Simple options involve mixing Malibu liqueur with cola, pineapple juice, milk, tonic and other soft drinks, resulting in light cocktails. Meanwhile, for making stronger cocktails, this liquor can be mixed with vodka, cognac or whiskey.

Such cocktails with the addition of Malibu rum liqueur are very popular in many entertainment venues today - nightclubs, restaurants and bars. The most common are Banana Daiquiri, Malibu Margarita and Tropical Kiss.

However, the most popular and common cocktail is rightfully considered Pinacolada - a traditional Caribbean alcoholic drink that consists of a mixture of Malibu coconut liqueur and pineapple juice. By the way, initially light rum, coconut milk and pineapple juice were used according to the recipe of this cocktail, but recently the first two ingredients have been replaced by Malibu liquor.
