Becherovka liqueur

Becherovka liqueur...

An equally well-known alcoholic drink than Czech beer is rightfully considered Becherovka liqueur, which is essentially a tincture on 20 different herbs. Initially, many people do not perceive this drink quite correctly - they expect a pleasant soft taste from it.

In fact, this bitter strong bitter was created, first of all, as a therapeutic gastric remedy, therefore, in order to test and love the taste of Becherovka liquor, you first need to get acquainted with its history and find out how to use it correctly.

Karlovy Vary - it was there in 1805-1807 that the world famous Becherovka liqueur was first released. It was created by local pharmacist Josef Becher - it was a specific aromatic drink to stimulate digestive processes called Carlsbad English Bitter, which was sold in clear flasks. A little later, Joseph decided to change it to another, in order to perpetuate not only the drink, but also himself. This is how Becherovka herbal liquor appeared.

After some time, the pharmacist handed over his case to his son, who, in turn, turned out to be a more enterprising businessman - it was he who came up with a flat bottle of green with a yellow label. Today, the family business is continued by the great-grandchildren of the pharmacist, thanks to whom Becherovka liquor became famous in many countries of the world.

Even the king of Austria appreciated the unusual taste of the tincture, so he ordered 53 thousand liters of liquor annually for the royal court. By the way, Czechs call Becherovka liquor the 13th medical source of Karlovy Vary.

It is noteworthy that in addition to the traditional pure liquor Becherovka, manufacturers today produce other versions of this legendary drink, which are distinguished by a variety of taste shades. For example, 35% Becherovka Cordial liquor is made with the addition of linden, while 39-40% Becherovka KV additionally uses red wine. Becherovka Lemond liquor differs in the aromas of citrus fruits and kumquat, however, the strength of this drink is much less - only 20%.

There are many options for drinking Becherovka liquor. For example, beverage manufacturers recommend drinking liquor in its pure form using cognac glasses before or after an evening meal. A traditional snack in this case is a slice of fresh orange, which is sprinkled with cinnamon.

In Slovakia, Becherovka liquor is often drunk with beer, and this is done as follows: about 50 grams of bitter is poured into a glass and cooled. Then, after drinking it in a volley, it is customary to drink liquor with a good light beer.

Cocktails with Becherovka liquor are also very popular. This is especially true for the famous Concrete cocktail, which is made very simply. In the desired proportions, tonic and Becherovka are mixed with the addition of crushed ice and lemon juice. In addition, it is not uncommon to combine liqueur with apple or cherry juice.

For medicinal purposes, it is customary to use Becherovka liqueur in minimal quantities - a spoon of strong drink is added to coffee or tea. Regular use of bitter in this form significantly improves human health.
