Bourbon

Bourbon...

Bourbon is the same whiskey, which is a drink with a rather high strength, only produced exclusively in the United States. Bourbon first appeared in Paris, in Kentucky's Bourbon County, in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Rather, it is known that it was in 1821 that the first advertisement for a drink under this name appeared.

The main difference between bourbon and whiskey of European origin is that this alcoholic drink is produced from corn, and not from barley. Interestingly, the liquid raw materials are kept in special oak barrels, which are previously burned using a certain technology. This innovation was introduced by Elijah Kreg, who accidentally noticed that when aged in an oak barrel burned from the inside, whiskey has a unique aroma and taste.

Most of the whisky that is made in America is bourbon, which is officially considered the national drink of this country. It is customary to consume bourbon not only in its pure form, but also as cocktails based on it. Often it is diluted with water or soda, and several ice cubes are placed in a glass. For example, a cocktail called Mint Julep is made on the basis of strong bourbon - such a drink is considered to be one of the American symbols of a rich life.

Types of bourbon

Today there are many types of bourbon, among which many are known not only in their homeland, but also around the world. A real American treasure with more than 200 years of history is considered Jim Beam bourbon, and a drink called Jim Beam White is the best-selling bourbon in the world.

It is noteworthy that Jim Beam Black, which is a premium bourbon, can withstand exactly 101 months in oak barrels, and is bottled at a certain strength - 43 degrees. This drink is characterized by a rich taste with a deep aftertaste with its characteristic notes of wood caramel.

Truly American character and unsurpassed taste is distinguished by such a type of bourbon as Maker's Mark - it is produced completely by hand (from accepting grain to bottling).

The Knob Creek Bourbon is a traditional American drink that gets its name after the house in which Abraham Lincoln (in Kentucky) spent most of his childhood. This whisky is characterized by a maple aroma, amber color and a unique fruity taste.

In addition, two more types of bourbon stand out, which are also known among admirers of this drink - Baker's and Booker's. The first is characterized by a special soft taste, while the second drink is usually poured directly from the barrels without filtration and dilution.
