How to make pearl barley porridge with meat? Prepare the necessary ingredients for this. Any type of meat can be used for cooking. It could be veal, chicken or like mine, pork.
Rinse pearl barley several times in cold water. Then fill with clean water and leave for a few hours or better to stand overnight. Before starting to cook, rinse the cereals again and put in boiling water. Cook over a low heat for about an hour until the barley is tender. Salt a little.
Cut the meat into small pieces. Heat the frying pan to hot and pour vegetable oil on it. Lay out the prepared meat and fry it for 5-7 minutes to start browning.
While the meat is frying, prepare the vegetables. Peel the onions and carrots and rinse them from pollution. Chop the onions and grate the carrots over a coarse grater.
Put the chopped onions and carrots in a pan to the meat. Stir. Continue frying everything together for another 2-3 minutes. Pour hot water over the meat and simmer over a low heat for 30-40 minutes, until the meat is soft. For fragrance, you can add bay leaf or celery root. Add salt and spices to taste. As spices, I take ground peppers and some paprika.
During the preparation of meat, the barley managed to cook. Throw it back in a colander and let drain the water.
Transfer the finished cereal to the pan to the meat and stir everything. Warm up for a couple of minutes and remove the pan from the heat.
Pearl barley porridge with meat is ready! Arrange it on plates and serve it hot to the table. Enjoy your meal!
