How to bake meat in a captain's way in an oven with potatoes? Prepare the necessary ingredients. Any meat is suitable, I took pork. Take high-quality, natural cheese, without milk fat substitutes. Sour cream is suitable for any fat content. Only sour cream or mayonnaise can be used.
Take a suitable baking dish. Grease it with a little vegetable oil.
Peel and cut the onions into half rings.
Place half the whole onion on the bottom of the tin.
Wash the pork, dry, cut into 1cm-thick pieces, like chops. The neck or shoulder blade is best suited for this recipe - there is a fat there.
Beat the meat well on both sides. To prevent meat juice from spreading throughout the kitchen, you can cover the meat with cling film or a bag.
Place the meat on top of the onions. It is better if it lies in one layer, so calculate what size to take the shape for your amount of meat.
Salt the meat.
Pepper, you can also add your favorite spices.
Spoon the second half of the onion over the meat.
Wash the potatoes, peel and cut into strips, like fries. You can cut it in another way, but in a captain's way it implies just such a cut, in bars.
Put the chopped potatoes in the following layer.

Grate the cheese over a coarse grater.
Combine sour cream and mayonnaise, mix well.
Add the grated cheese to them, stir again.
Place the resulting mixture on top of the potatoes.

Bake the meat with the potatoes in the oven at 180 degrees for 50-60 minutes. Determine the readiness by the readiness of potatoes - it should become soft and easily pierced with a knife. A ruddy crust is formed on top. If the potatoes are not yet ready, and the meat is already very brown on top, cover the shape with foil and bake until tender.
Remove the finished dish from the oven, cool a little. Arrange it on plates and serve on a table.
Fresh vegetables or salad from them will be a good additive to such meat. Enjoy your meal!
