Indeed, a few decades ago, our parents considered crab sticks a delicacy, it was compared exclusively to black caviar. The basis of crab sticks is surimi - purified from moisture and fat, washed fish fillet. Many believe that crab sticks are made from waste from freshly caught fish, but in fact this is not the case - only fillets are used. Crab sticks do not have a special taste or smell to correct the situation, manufacturers add salt, starch, vegetable and egg white, vegetable oil, sugar, flavor enhancers, flavors and stabilizers. After all the additives, about 45% of the fish minced meat turns out to be in crab sticks, but do not worry, since the dose of 25% is considered the norm. If you choose crab sticks, be sure to check the ingredients, surimi in this list should be in first place if the fish minced meat is in second or subsequent places, which means that the crab sticks contain a minimum of fish.
